pleasure of reading

We oftenely read books, novel and stories. But wait a minute do you ever feel like that you  have a habit of reading. Maybe don't but some people do have such habbits of reading. The reading elseems like pleasure to them just like doing fun activities for childrens .Some people might have such a passion for reading that they will acquire the habit and maintain it against all obstacles. There are others with the inclination and capacity to get that pleasure but who find it increasingly difficult under modern conditions to indulge and cultivate the capacity, and if they do not do so they lose one of the greatest resources and most precious recreations of life. Then there is a third class of people to whom reading, because of the nature of their temperament, will never be any pleasure at all. These are in no danger whatsoever from modern conditions. In old days it must have been easy to acquire the habit of reading. People stayed for months in the same house without stirring from it even for a night.
The opportunities for reading were so many, and the oppor- tunities for doing other things were comparatively so few, that the habit of reading must have been forced upon them. The first thing necessary to the pleasure of reading is that when people are young they should acquire the habit of reading. This is becoming more and more difficult.
The amenities of the present day postal system are proving harmful for reading by consuming a vast amount of time in correspondence that is unnecessary trivial or irka- some. Railways have altered people's habits by making them move about much more. But railways have this compensating advantage  although they take people much away from home, a long rail- way journey affords a first rate opportunity for reading. They are not, therefore, an unmixed advantage. But now things are changing. The motor-car is altogether unfavourable to reading. The telephone is a deadly disadvantage; the wireless and the cinematograph, the taped music and the television are added distraction and are becom- ing more and more common. All these things make it more difficult to acquire or maintain the habits of reading. Surely the problem deserves our close attention.
We should also give some of our time in reading books and informative novels for our pleasure. They give us alot awareness about our literature and society as the literature is often termed as the mirror to the society .
